I had no issues that needed resolving. My wife and I are completely happy with Boomer Benefits.

Updated by user Nov 27, 2023

We don’t have any dramatic stories to add. We had no specific medical issues to deal with in 2023 and our coverage(s) stayed the same with no alterations.

Original review Nov 27, 2023
This is our second year with Boomer Benefits and suffice it to say we wouldnt have come back if we werent happy with the service and the people. Of course, we have a different CSR this year, but kudos to Haley Williams for taking the reins and getting us set up for 2024! We were so happy with the plans we were set up with initially that we decided not to make any changes to our coverage. Should we decide to make a change in the future, Im confident that Boomer Benefits will guide us along and help us to get the best coverage for our specific needs.

Change in Medicare Part D plan

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I recd email from Bree Walker regarding the open enrollment for Medicare Part D plans. I called her and she returned my call the next day. Once I completed the worksheet she sent me, I heard back from her right away on a new plan that will save me on monthly premium and $250 a month on one of my prescriptions. When I called her about this new plan, she returned my call within a day and answered my questions. I worked with Bree last year also when I initially signed up. I would highly recommend contacting Boomer Benefits to assist with the Medicare Plans.

Poor dental plan

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review May 08, 2023

Signed up for an Aetna dental plan (not insurance) that was suggested by the boomer benefits agent. This plan was actually run by Careington benefit solutions.

It's $60 per month per couple. Services are paid up front & get reimbursed by Careington. Misled into thinking 70% of services are reimbursed. Not true.

Paid $720 for the year, $615 in services, received $93 reimbursement check. Terrible customer service by Careington. Major issues with getting claims submitted.

Want boomer benefits to be aware of this terrible dental plan. Paid $1300 in plan fees & dental fees.

Only $93 in reimbursement? Very much a rip-off & scam.

I needed coverage on Medigap G to begin on 9/1. The Boomer Benefits agent promised me that I would be covered...It is 9/6 I don't have coverage according to Medicare and no phone number to contact AETNA ...the company I selected. The company that drafted my bank account is Ascendo NOT Aetna. I have no way to contact the insurance company, my agent, Alex does not answer his phone or replied to emails

Pros:
  • Friendly knowledgeable agent
Cons:
  • Not beginning coverage when promised
  • Not putting me with the company selected
  • Leaving me without coverage

Preferred solution: I would like to have insurance coverage beginining September 1, 2022. I would like this to be on my Medicare card, like the drug plan I enrolled myself.

User's recommendation: Do not trust these irresponsible callous grasping agents and talk to Medicare directly.

If Brenda sees this please follow up. Medicare should've been able to give you a phone number for Aetna (Accendo is a sub group of Aetna and they have the same phone # per Medicare's website) then you could verify coverage directly through them.

If your bank account was drafted for the first premium you should have at least had coverage through Accendo until you could change to an Aetna policy if you wanted.

Boomers should've helped straightened things out but I hope you were able to. You can always switch to a different broker company.

Almost sold me terrible Plan!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This company, like others, is pushing seniors into horrible Medicare advantage plans! I came very close to letting the agent railroad me into one. These plans are scams, nothing more than privatized health care. Which means, they make money by either denying health care, or over-billing the gov't. Don't take my word for it, do your research! United Health Care is the worst offender, and the corrupt AARP endorses these plans, which makes them a ton of money. STAY AWAY FROM MEDICARE ADVANTAGE!

So is it Boomer Benefits you're more pissed at or Medicare advantage plans? I recently signed up for a Medigap plan through Boomers and in no way did they try to push or railroad me towards an advantage plan. My experience with their service team remains to be seen, but I can always switch to another broker if I have any problems later.

They will not refund charges for their mistake

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had contacted them and was working on a Plan G policy and help with dental insurance. When my policy with United was denied because of a shoulder needing attention I told the representative, Mr. Garza I did not want to appeal and also wanted to forget the dental insurance. Today I was doing my quarterly review of our checking balance statement and noticed charges to the Manhattan Life dental insurance company we turned down. I spoke with Boomer Benefits and they admitted I was not informed how to canceling the insurance. I was left to assume my telling them we did not want the insurance was appropriate. So I asked for a credit for their mistake. The boomer benefits company informed me they couldnt do anything about the charges for January and February. This is costing me $168.16 because of their mistake. I was only asking for a correction for the mistake they admitted was their fault. I was told they could not do that.

Disappointment with Customer Service availability

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
As someone in my initial enrollment period for Medicare, Boomer Benefits helped identify a Plan G to go with A&B, but they were swamped with regular open enrollment people earlier this month (Dec.), and the representative asked me to call back later when they weren't as busy, to get help with Part D options. It's the week before Christmas, but apparently they've already closed for the Holidays, and nobody is available and there is no indication when they'll be back in their offices. Their website lists inconsistent hours that they should be open (one place says Mon-Fri. 8 a.m - 6 p.m., but if you try to phone one of their number, the automated message says Mon-Thurs. 8:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) and now it's after 9 a.m, but nobody is answering, and there's a different message saying they're off for the Holidays and will return calls on the next normal business day. It's unclear if that means the week after Christmas, or not until after New Year's Day, which will be too late for me to enroll in a plan to take effect by Jan. 1st.

Not only have not been contacted even though my policies have increased 10% for the B supplement and over 20% for the drug supplement, I have never been contacted for a review and never contacted for info I requested for dental and vision. Terrible customer service! When I called to complain and ask if I should be using another company I was told "that's up to you". So what is boomer benefits there for?

I am considering which agent to use but this review is worthless. It sounds like it's just an angry person who won't be happy anywhere.

Just my 2 cents.

I'll read more reviews. Problem is very few happy people will review companies on this site.

Bad Treatment of Employees

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Original review Oct 18, 2020
They pressure, more customer service, the workers to make a quota. The company depends on sales for medicare only and do rely on that type of sales. They advertise customer service but the pressure to the workers in customer service has led most to quit and have health issues. They refuse to offer some benefits thinking people would abuse them. One of the owners watches the employees by camera. Since corona virus, the company was never pro active in keeping the employees safe except for marketing. they only had one hand sanitizer for months and only had cleaning supplies for the breakroom. their managers had to bring their own supplies. it took an employee family member to threaten to expose them for them to open the locked doors to the breakroom for customer service and sales. they trained past and current managers to use intimidation to get the employees to work at a certain level. Most customer service workers leave after 1-3 yrs due to the intimidation which the owners wash their hands of responsibility and play dumb. They do not like hiring older workers except for sales and that is limited. They seem to prefer young white people for marketing only due to appearance. The past and current managers do the same thing to make the owners happy. They have to put unnecessary pressure and intimidation. Their managers help employees pass tests which is illegal and against insurance standards. Employees are threaten with retaliation if they do not pass the test the first time and try to take the test on their own after that. It is mandatory for managers to pass the tests for the workers who did not pass the first time.

Giving a thumbs up

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I don't understand why people are complaining and think maybe they are just confused or not asking the right questions. I had a weight lifted off of my shoulders with stacks of paperwork that had my head going in circles. The medicare advantage programs are so often chosen when people just throw their hands up and give in to the stacks of paperwork you have to wade thru to begin to understand Medicare and pay the high premiums not knowing what when where or why. Boomer Benefits were INCREDIBLY patient with answering my endless questions and never hesitated to explain to me ANY question I had. They called me to check to see if I had more questions in a few days and always were pleasant and helpful. I did choose insurance thru private companies that saved me a lot of money, and when there were billing issues, they TOTALLY handled them for me. They checked back with updates until the problems from the doctors office(s) were corrected and sometimes it was months before the process was completed due to hospital or doctor office errors. I was so pleased and relieved with me not having to go thru this. My dealings with them thus far have been nothing but A+.
